Known as Five Pits Place, the emerging plans have drawn inspiration from Holmewood’s mining heritage and the nearby Five Pits Trail.
33 new, high-quality apartments to cater to local people aged 55 and over are proposed. This would provide much-needed new homes which reflect the needs and lifestyles of older residents. These homes would also meet the recognised need for over-55 homes in North East Derbyshire, including providing affordable options.
The plans also include the delivery of a new place of worship to serve local members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church. This Gospel Hall would respond to a long-standing need for a place of worship in the local area.
Taken together, the plans seek to establish a new sense of place while reflecting the area’s community-minded character and heritage.
Ahead of planning application being submitted, a public consultation was launched to offer the local community an opportunity to view the proposals and leave their feedback.
The public consultation has now closed. All comments received are much appreciated and have been taken into account to inform the final planning application.
